My father, who loves to be funny, has taken to repeating this remedy for just about any ailment known to mankind…never mind he doesn’t drink! Of course, he will remind you that you can often find him “lying in bed on two chairs with my feet hanging out the window”…I believe he said that his mother-in-law taught him that one!
Some old sayings you really have to BE old to understand them, like ‘Against the grain’ or ‘As bright as a sixpence’ or ‘Hold your horses.’
Other sayings will always hold meaning, like ‘A day late and a dollar short’ or ‘If life gives you lemons, make lemonade’ or ‘In the doghouse.”
But one of my favorite sayings is, ‘Home is where the heart is.’ That saying actually has so many different and wonderful meanings. I think you could even quote it when you see the statistics that over 85% of seniors want to remain in their own homes. If illness or circumstances has you thinking about moving, call your local Home Instead Senior Care office and see how you can remain in your own home safely…where your heart is.
