Easter Encounter

With Easter and spring comes a sense of renewal. Use this time to rejuvenate yourself and any seniors in your life. Here are some suggestions:

Indulge in fresh fruits and veggies of the season. Read this list of spring produce from the Food Network website and see which foods tickle your taste buds:  artichokes, asparagus, blueberries, carrots, peas, rhubarb, and strawberries. Then, find cookbooks with recipes you could make together – or that they’d like you to make for them!

Shop for an Easter Sunday outfit. If your loved one plans on attending a church service, offer to help select an outfit from their closet or to take them shopping for a new dress, suit or hat.

Surprise them with an unannounced visit by the Easter bunny. (This is my favorite…I may even try this with my grandkids.) Plastic eggs are plentiful this time of year, so buy some at the local store and stash them throughout your loved one’s home for an occasional surprise throughout the month. Fill the plastic orbs with kind notes. Or candy, if their diet allows. Don’t know what to write on the notes? Share gratitude for one of their personality traits. Write a memory of your time together and what it meant to you. Or scribble a scripture.

Happy Easter
