Favorite Things

“These are a few of my favorite things.”  As I get older, I reflect this time of year of my many blessings. I’m not where I thought I would be at this point in my life or who I thought I would be with but as I look back in time, with perspective, I realize I’m not unhappy with where I am either. And I don’t think I’m alone. Life never goes as planned. People we love pass away. Our bodies betray us. We never have enough money. It’s different for everyone but it’s always the same….change is a part of life.

So I have developed a ‘new normal!’ We search and find new joys, new groups, new (4 legged) children, new endeavors that fulfill us. The Golden Tsunami is going to force many of us to reinvent ourselves. We will have some things forced upon us like extending the retirement age. But many of us will figure out how to take our passions in life and turn them into productive volunteerism or a successful second career.  We are not our grandparents. But then, they didn’t live to 95…oh, wait, two of my grandmothers made it into their 90’s! I’m lucky. One of my passions is helping others and I’ve been able to do that with Home Instead Senior Care.

Find your passions, discover what brings you joy! Then, start planning now how you will move closer to fulfilling that desire within you to begin working in or passing on those passions.
