They say there are no atheists in foxholes. A recent study published by the American Psychological Association shows that Americans with health issues have increased their prayer time by over 36 percent between 1999 and 2007. According to this study, those who turn to prayer more frequently are seniors, women, African-Americans, people who were married, people educated beyond high school or anyone who has experienced a change in health for better or for worse.

I believe in God and I believe in prayer. I’ve seen the power of healing and I’ve seen the despair of chronic pain. Faith and prayer brings hope and peace in the midst of the storm. It’s no surprise to me that people are turning more to their faith to battle life’s ups and downs.
