You know that I’m not the biggest fan of nursing homes, mostly because I believe they’ve been over utilized without good cause. And I see the tide turning as the powers that be are realizing that being able to heal and recuperate at home beats going into a nursing home.

That being said, they have their place. And this week, across the nation, celebrations will spotlight nursing home residents and staff. I encourage all to applaud those that work at a hard and sometime thankless job to make a positive difference in the lives of their residents every day. If you are so inclined, why not celebrate with us by honoring all those who contribute to our nation’s nursing homes – residents, family members, employees and volunteers. Stop by a local nursing home and just tell the staff “thank you” for what they do, day in and day out. You’ll be glad you did!
