Thanksgiving

What are you most thankful for? This is something that I actually examine every now and then and have for years. I think it changes as we wander through the seasons of our own lives. I’ll always be grateful for my beautiful daughters and grandchildren. It’s interesting though, how our ‘thankfulness’ changes from being thankful for a child born with all ten fingers and toes to being thankful that they made it home at 3 am and they are not wrapped around a telephone pole to being thankful that they can finally support themselves and not look to you for everything!

As we age, we look at ourselves differently also. Some mornings we are grateful that we get another day to view God’s creation. Some days we are grateful that we still have a spouse that we can share another meal with. Some mornings it’s just giving thanks that our bones don’t hurt too much and we can go take a walk with our dog.

According to a lot of studies, one of the most frequent wishes of older adults is to be able to stay in their own homes. That’s not always possible but that’s where services from a company like, Home Instead Senior Care can be the most helpful. Having someone come in periodically to assist with things like meal preparation, light housekeeping and transportation to doctor’s appointments can go a long way to keeping a senior safe in their own home. Consider contacting Home Instead Senior Care this year for you or your loved one and you’ll be ‘thankful’ you did.
